Color Outside the Lines Painting Competition

CONTEST GUIDELINES

• Theme and Objectives

1. Theme: “Khmer Heritage Through Art”
2. Participants are encouraged to capture the essence of Cambodia’s culture, heritage, and identity in their work.
3. Objective: Inspire creativity, empower Khmer artists, and celebrate Cambodia’s artistic legacy through a public exhibition and awards.

• Key Dates

1. Submission Period: 17 March 2025 – 28 April 2025
2. Top 15 Announcement: 1 May 2025
3. Exhibition: 9 May 2025
4. Winner Announcement: 10 May 2025

• Eligibility & Registration

1. Eligibility: Open to all artists (amateur or professional).
2. Registration & Online Submission:
   A. Fill Out the Form: Visit https://humansofphnompenh.com/artist/ to register (provide name, contact details, short bio, and artwork title).
   B. Upload Artwork: Attach a high-quality image of the painting (maximum submissions per artist).

• Artwork Requirements

1. Originality: All artwork must be the participant’s own original creation, free from any infringement on third-party rights.
2. Medium & Format: Any painting medium is allowed (oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, etc.).
3. Digital File Specifications:
   A. Formats accepted: JPEG/PNG
   B. Resolution: Minimum 150 DPI for clarity.

• Submission Process

1. Online Form: Complete registration and upload your painting image(s).
2. Confirmation: A confirmation email will be sent upon successful submission.

• Judging Criteria

1. Relevance to the Theme: How well the artwork represents “Khmer Heritage Through Art.”
2. Creativity & Originality: Innovative concept and style.
3. Technical Skill: Composition, use of medium, and overall execution.
4. Visual Impact: The painting’s ability to captivate viewers.

• Exhibitions & Awards

1. Top 15 Announcement: Selected finalists will be notified by 1st May.
2. Physical Painting Submission:
   A. The Top 15 artists must provide their original paintings physically for display at the exhibition on 9th May.
   B. Paintings must be delivered in ready-to-hang condition (canvas, frame, or mount).
3. Award Ceremony: Winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd places) announced on 10th May, with recognition and prizes.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

• Physical Submission for Exhibition

1. If an artist’s work is selected among the Top 15 in the “Color Outside the Lines” competition, the artist is required to deliver the original painting in physical form for display during the exhibition.
2. The artist retains ownership of the submitted artwork; however, HoPP reserves the right to showcase it for the duration of the event and related promotional activities.
   
   

• Usage Rights

1. By submitting to the competition, the artist grants HoPP the non-exclusive right to use, reproduce, and display the artwork (both the digital image submitted and the physical piece) in promotional materials, social media posts, marketing campaigns, exhibitions, and advertisements related to “Color Outside the Lines” or other HoPP initiatives.
2. Where feasible, HoPP will always credit the artist when featuring their artwork in any public-facing medium.
   
   

• Sales & Support

1. HoPP will support artists in promoting and selling their paintings through HoPP’s platform (e.g., online marketplace, website listings) if the artist opts to make their work available for purchase.
2. Should a sale occur, the artist and HoPP can mutually agree on a commission arrangement or other sales terms.
3. In the event of a sale, ownership will transfer directly from the artist to the buyer under the agreed-upon terms; HoPP does not assume ownership unless explicitly specified in a separate agreement.

• Representations & Warranties

1. Original Work
   A. Each artwork must be the participant’s own creation and must not breach any copyright laws or contain plagiarized elements.
2. Accurate Information
   A. Participants are responsible for providing correct personal information. Any inaccuracies can lead to disqualification.

• Liability

1. Exhibition Risks
   A. While HoPP takes every reasonable measure to safeguard artworks at the exhibition, it will not be held liable for any damage, loss, or theft.
2. Insurance & Shipping
   A. Participants bear full responsibility for any shipping/insurance costs for delivering their paintings to HoPP.
   
3. Force Majeure
   A. If unforeseen circumstances (such as natural disasters or public health
   emergencies) necessitate the cancellation or rescheduling of the event, HoPP will make reasonable efforts to notify all participants promptly.

• Privacy

1. Data Collection
   A. Personal information collected during registration is used for contest
   administration and communication.
2. Confidentiality
   B. HoPP will not share participants’ personal data with unrelated third parties, except as required by law or for event-related promotions.
   

• Disqualification & Cancellation

1. Disqualification
   A. HoPP may disqualify any participant for submitting inaccurate information or for failing to comply with these guidelines.
2. Event Cancellation
   A. HoPP reserves the right to cancel or modify the contest if necessary, in which case participants will be informed.

• Acceptance of Terms

1. Acceptance of TermsBy entering the “Color Outside the Lines” competition, participants acknowledge and accept these Guidelines and Terms & Conditions, including the transfer of ownership for physically submitted artworks and HoPP’s right to use them for promotional purposes.
